Ashley of a Hasty Life is hosting a very interesting blog crawl. Bloggers you know and love from all over are emptying their handbags and telling the world (or at least a few readers) what their bag says about them. I'd love to thank her for asking me to be a part of the event. I love learning more about my fellow girl bloggers. Especially something as telling as what's in our bags. It's so private and so varied.
As far as usage goes, I keep a "freebie" bag near the garage door for use when I'm out running errands. It's an oversize faux python tote I received free with a Saks beauty purchase. I can toss it in the seat and bump into things without stressing. It even goes to the gym and makes a great laptop carrier. The thing is, I can't stand the "bottomless pit" aspect of big bags. Because they are "junk" bags I tend to fill them with random objects.
My handbags on the other hand are prized possessions. I adore them, baby them and obsess about protecting them from even the slightest injury. For the most part my bags are very structured. I am a bit OCD about them... I empty them after each use, dust them off and store them in their sleeper bags. Umm... yes, I'm a weeee bit compulsive. But these are long term investments, right? This one is no exception. It holds just enough with a not one bit of room to spare. It's not large enough to hold any extras - which is a good thing, as it makes me carry only what's necessary.
After looking at my contents and the bag itself it's clear I love pink and gold (shame you couldn't see my iPhone cover... as I needed it to take the pic!). It also shows that I'm a girl on the go. Protein bar front and center in case I get hungry. Husband's key fob attached to my key ring just in case I need to access his car (I hate having to dash back inside when I'm in a hurry - which I always am!). Starbucks card & well-worn gym ID attached to keys as I frequent both daily. In my pink pouch I store my credit cards and other necessities (finally ditched my wallet, as it was too heavy... plus, the patent pink pouch makes me smile).
In this particular bag I have absolutely no room for a makeup pouch. But a girl needs a few things to freshen up. The solution? The Trish McEvoy "emergency card" makeup palette. It's the size of a credit card and not much thicker. Even has a mirror inside! I'm also able to squeeze in a lip gloss. Just barely! This one is almost empty (I'm scooping out the last bit!), but it is my current fave lip gloss. (Note to self: buy more soon.) I also have a comb in the pink pouch "just in case" the need arises. Some days you just need a bit of oomph at the crown!
Before I go... I should show you the workhorse bag I mentioned. Because really... life is too large to fit in just one bag. The tote carries my laptop (is that the cutest zippy laptop case, or what?), my workout gloves, a magazine (or two!) my sunglass case (with polishing cloth inside), scented hand sanitizer (of course!), headphones and an additional pouch where I store hair bands, etc.
As mentioned above, I have a very difficult time keeping this one organized. Large bag = chaos! But realistically I need a functional bag like this for all that life demands. It also has a hot pink satin lining. I'll be sad when she wears out and needs to be retired!
Thanks for peeking inside my bags, everyone. Hope it offered you an insiders look at my life. I do agree that the contents say a lot about the owner's priorities. It was a bit interesting for me to see what they might be saying about my current focus. Would love to hear your thoughts!
