A project I'm working on has me obsessed (again) with all things Pucci. Colorful swirls, maddening geometry and a dizzying kaleidoscope of colors. New players to the game might think it was Trina or Tory who brought these patterns to the game. Nonsense.
This Florentine fashion house founded by the legendary Marchese Emilio Pucci di Barsento introduced us all to these fanciful designs. A bon vivant if there ever was one, his life story is as fascinating as it gets. Emilio almost singlehandedly epitomized the jet set lifestyle and certainly influenced how the upper class dressed. His Isle of Capri boutique is legendary and so is the cult following of fashionable clients - including noted celebrities.
It all began when his unique designs caught the attention of the world as they began dotting the slopes of Switzerland on fashionable downhill skiers. Vibrant orange, poppy pink and bold black in jawdropping patterns. How could anyone help but stand up and take notice?
I could go on and on professing my love of the "out there" but somehow timeless designs. I am so intrigued by the adventurous life and imaginative designs that are the essence of Pucci. May I offer a suggestion? Grab a copy of this gorgeous book and carve out some time to indulge in a bit of fashion history. I assure you, you will develop a love for the brand as I have myself. Happy reading!
