Behold, Baccarat!

In a former life (or, you know, I could just call them my twenties!) I was a merchandiser for luxury crystal company Waterford. I can remember being consistently wowed by the fanciful world of high-end cut crystal in its many forms. From chandeliers for for royalty to "everyday" selections of stemware for brides-o-be, this was a topic I found endlessly fascinating. And still do. We used to host events where Master Craftsmen would visit from Ireland and carefully etch their names on the bottom of special pieces they'd created. it was always a thrill to see the exclusive pieces they made for events around the world and wealthy (nameless and faceless) clients who wished to remain private and elusive. Trust me: an impression was made and a message was sent to my younger mind. Crystal was a coveted material to be prized and cherished as well as passed along to heirs.

Of course, Waterford is not alone in its pursuit of being the best in the glittering world of fine crystal. Each of the crystal companies has carved out its niche and comes loaded with a rich history. Waterford holds its distinctly Irish appeal for purists, Orrefors has a distinguished pedigree none can dispute. The list goes on. But Baccarat has always held a special place amongst the world's elite and style-savvy enthusiasts.

This year Baccarat is celebrating their 250th anniversary by releasing their first ever book. 400 pages of sparkling goodness await inside the large glossy black cover. This prestigious brand traces its roots back to King Louis XV and has been enjoyed by history’s noteworthy figures from 1764. Napoléon, Grace Kelly, Aristotle and Jackie Onassis as well as maharajahs and emperors have all commissioned works from this legendary brand.

Even if you're not sitting under the glistening lights of a French chandelier, you too can hold a piece of history in your hands when this book drops on October 22. I will be doing a full review here and highlighting my favorite amongst the commissioned one-of-a-kind showpieces likely to be seen in this very special book. Pre-order your copy here.

What the beautiful people are saying...

Wow this is a book I must get my hands on, in awe of their masterpieces!

Something to say, gorgeous?
