Oh what a day! Yesterday I arrived at High Point Market exhilirated but exhausted. A early morning flight (so early that my beloved Starbucks wasn't even open before I left), an eight month old baby and a very loyal girlfriend combined to make for an interesting travel day. Did I mention that the size of the plane was so tiny I was almost positive it was a private flight. Sadly, it was not.
Two plus hours and one nauseous baby later, we were wheels down Greensboro. Once we were situated I headed into High Point. First stop: Pearson. As many of you know, I write for them via their blog, facebook and twitter. I'm a huge fan of the creative force that is Jennifer McConnell. She has such a fantastic eye for style and does things with upholstery that I'd never dream of doing. And yet, in the end it's flawless, sophisticated and glamorous.
This time around Jennifer featured a ton of new occasional pieces. Tables with inlay details, shagreen cabinets, a new painted finish (that's creamy & dreamy!) and more pretty pieces than my eyes could absorb in one viewing. And then there's the upholstery. Last year Pearson introduced headboards. Now they have beds and bedside tables. It will be interesting to see how this category grows for them. Will we see dressers and chests emerge? It will be fun to watch.
Look at the pix above to see how Jennifer mixes her fabrics and textures. Pearson is always juuuuust ahead of the curve when it comes to textiles. This time around, too, there were fresh ideas and interesting new looks everywhere you turned.
Today's agenda: Henredon and Maitland-Smith appointments early. Then I'm off to Hickory Chair & a runway presentation from Furniture Brands (parent company of these and other beautiful furniture brands. And then - maybe - a bit of fun in the Carolina weather and (if I'm really lucky) a rest for my feet.
