Front & Center

Front
We moved into a new house in October and there are still several areas in need of my attention. The foyer for one. It's the first thing you see (obviously) when you open the door. And, like many Texas homes, the space is grand. Soaring ceilings are a delight when you're house shopping... but when it comes time to decorate the space you need to be sure that the furnishings can command a space visually and vertically.

Most days I'm thinking the usual suspects: glamorous console, massive mirror, the requisite mix of books, a chic lamp and a potted flower. End of story. Moving on...

Other days I entertain the idea of the unexpected. Maybe it's plush seating and a massive piece of art. Maybe it's two swanky chairs flanking a handsome round entry table. Any of the above can work.. the question is which is best for our home.

Looking at the above example I have to say I'm smitten with the idea of a settee. If I go for it, the above foyer will certainly be an image I hold in my head as I sketch it up. Isn't this stunning?

What the beautiful people are saying...

For what it's worth, my vote is totally for the settee. It does look quite chic, and it can also be incredibly functional! Great to have a place to sit down when you walk in and out to remove/put on shoes, flip through mail, etc.

Im inclined to agree. In this case it could go either way. I dont need storage there and wouldnt allow mail to be sorted there. Shoes on the other hand..groovy idea.

You, Annie, will appreciate that I love the uncluttered look of leggy seating and a pretty table. It girls up the entrance. The only catch: I do want a lamp there. Its a big space and I want lamp lighting there to give the right mood.

More on this... I see sketches coming.

Oh, I love that entryway! Beautiful!

his or her total video game altered to the far better... as well as they ended up being undoubtedly on the leading with his or her practise (precisely what really does that will express)?

Oh this is a fantastic idea. Iwould definitely go for a seatee and make an impact right from the start.

I definitely agree with everybody in here! Go with the settee! It would definitely look gorgeous on your foyer. Will you use the same color scheme? If you do, you can definitely go with this idea, or you can choose a settee that is a shade darker to create a beautiful contrast.

Something to say, gorgeous?
