Enlightening

Capri

Didn't sleep well last night, but that gave me time to catch up on many things. First off... Decorno... you're blogging again? Nothing is more entertaining and enlightening than the contents sections of your posts. Clearly your commenters missed you. I did too. Welcome back.

Also... hello? I have been completely out of the loop on what sounds like a groundswell of popularity for Mormon mommy bloggers. I don't know much about it (it being the movement, the religion and the blogs themselves), but the emerging genre is causing a stir far outside of Salt Lake City. Their gleeful celebration of family, children and homemaking apparently makes for highly addictive content for "city-dwelling feminists." Who knew? You can't make this stuff up. Really.

As a girl who is herslef happily ensconced in all things marital bliss and motherhood I wasn't certain I'd see the appeal. Boy, was I wrong. One glance at any of these blogs and you'll see they put the most ardent homemakers to shame. These are mini-Martha Stewarts. Legions of them, presumably. And they truly put it all out there. In addition to their candor, nearly everything in their homes are homemade, handmade or vintage. Their children (no only children here) live what appear to be the most enjoyable and family-centric lives. They do this celebrating each little moment of the day. It's enough to have you second guessing your lifestyle. That, I assure you.

Realizing all of this was too heady to absorb at 2am I focused my mind on the familiar: travel! Capri is a favorite vacation destination and an oddly idyllic location. Since my toes are chilly here in Texas even as I write this (what is up with this weather?), I'll pay homage to this sunny island escape with my fantasy carry-on luggage packed.

Domestic bliss is cool again (hooray!), there's snow on the ground in Texas (what?) and Decorno is back (holla!). 2011... what other surprises do you have to offer?

What the beautiful people are saying...

The "domestic bliss" movement is definitely fascinating. Everyone I know reads and enjoys the Mormon mommy blogs.

Alison I was completely oblivious to it until last night. Ill have to find a few to read. Any specific faves?

Good news for us about Decorno. Capri sounds sensational and hope you get some good rest this evening Franki.
Have a great weekend, warmer weather is ahead.

Cheers from brisk Katy, TX at a 25*

after this post...i am too. I love Italy!

A brisk 25 degrees. Eeek! When will it end, Deborah? Oh thats right.. this weekend. Thank God for fickle Texan winter weather ;)

I do too! I miss it dearly!

Hey, i've been reading this blog for a while and have a question, maybe you can help... it's how do i add your feed to my rss reader as i want to follow you. Thanks.

Something to say, gorgeous?
