Today I'm Obsessed with...
1) Taking regular advantage of those darned online sample sales. I can't even keep up with the daily notifications and I'm SURE I'm missing out on a great deal on a Chanel boucle jacket in size 36 or mint condition Hermes Kelly. Speaking of which...
2) A hot pink Kelly Birkin. To be honest, I'm not even sure why... but I pine for a bright pink Hermes Kelly bag. Iconic. Pink. Did I mention pink? *sigh*
3) The return of AWESOME shows like Flipping out and Rachel Zoe Project. I may not love her personal style, but this girl can turn out a polished look for her clients like nobody's business. And Jeff Lewis? Where do I begin. I love him. I love (and relate to) his OCD tendencies, his constant demand for perfection and his evolving soft side. I do believe our beloved house flipper has grown a heart. Love. Him. Thank you, Bravo, for spoiling me as always.
4) Dresses. I'm growing tired of the need to put together an outfit every day. This shirt doesn't go well with these shorts... this skirt only works with that top. Blah. The simplicity of a dress means I can choose a pair of shoes, grab a pretty dress, add a bag and bounce out the door. Ba-dam. Done.
Specifically, I'm focused on solid colored dresses right now. They'll last you many more seasons (as patterns become dated very quickly) and offer more flexibility with layering. I really feel every woman needs a closet filled with versatile dresses. Something tells me this would lower stress in every woman I know when it comes to dressing in the mornings.
5) Living La Dolce Vita like Giada. I know... I know... she's a television personality. But she's EVERYWHERE and always seems so stress free. We have daughters the same age and I imagine she must have a team of people around her fixing her pretty makeup, brushing her hair and tending to that little child - all so she can build her own personal brand empire without ever seeming the least bit unglued. She has (what appears to be) an endless collection of beautiful clothing, fun-loving friends and winning recipes. Add to that a list of est-selling books, several hit shows, a happy baby, loving husband and the ability to travel the world. That, folks, is my perfect life. I want that. I want my name in lights (or at least on the inside tag of a collection of dresses). I want people waiting in line for me to sign their books. I want time to write said books. I want time to go back to Italy and take in the sights and smells. I want more sleep. I want more time. I want my own Zoila and Jenni (see how it all goes back to Bravo?). Giada... I know you have an army of people helping you... but it's their invisibility that leaves me so perplexed and - I'll admit it - mesmerized. Keep cooking. Keep giving me something to aspire to. We must do lunch. Soon.
