As an aspiring (amateur) chef, I love these "taste of..." events. Well, to be more accurate I have occasionally approved of one or two of them. Clearly, it depends upon the city and the venue. I've been to a handful that had more of a carnival vibe (not so nice) and one or two that achieved a surprising amount of glam for what equates to culinary food stalls. Let's be frank here, it's like a cattle call where fellow patrons are wearing better shoes wearing designer finery - all so they can overpay for a teeny-tiny sample of (hopefully) a chef's favorite dishes. Not all dishes travel well, not all diners behave nicely outside of restaurants and not everyone can balance a handbag, a wine glass and a Chinet plate with success.
All that aside, my money is on the Taste of Beverly Hills. If anyone can serve cuisine on disposable serving pieces with plastic spoons and pull it off with panache, it will be the chefs of this enclave of luxury. 
(A generous portion of red seems to blur the senses anyway...so be sure to as for the wine flight as well). Get your tickets here...
