Mirror, Mirror on the... floor.
At some point before I've most certainly confessed my deep love of mirrors. Not in the vain "oh, look at me!" way...more in an appreciation of their instant impact on a room. Small ones are fine, I'm sure, but like a good Texan at heart I like them big. Huge, in fact. Specifically, I prefer the variety that are so oversized that they must be leaned against the wall rather than hung. I'd love to say I own just one, but that would be untrue. We have a massive one at home in the living room - which seems to double the size of the room and maximize the sunlight just perfectly. Beveled glass, clean lines and a deep espresso frame. I really love this mirror and it lends a sleek look to the space.
We have another one, however, at the office. This one I can't wait to rescue and bring home with me just to see how it transforms the space around it. This one has a black frame with nail heads surrounding the massive mirror inside. I wouldn't call it "edgy" - but it's no wallflower by any means. It's an odd mix of glamorous and unexpected. I love that mirror. I want to build a room around that mirror. I want to stare at the frame and ponder the design possibilities.
Sadly, I'm not done sating my appetite for such treasures. I look forward to moving to a larger home not only to decorate a fresh space, but to pretend such additions are "necessary" and justified. The worst offenders are Horchow Restoration Hardware. They keep sending those catalogs littered with gigantic mirrors begging me to bring them home. Like puppies in the window, they are wagging their tails and trying their best to get my attention. It's working... it's working.
Now... if I only had more walls to adorn!

That's a gorgeous mirror. A lone mirror sits in my bedroom propped against the wall just waiting to be hung. It's nothing like the mirrors you talk about, it's just your every day garden-variety full length mirror I've had for nearly 2 years now.
Okay...so my comment has no relavence to your post, but I thought you were dying to know my mirror story. You were, weren't you? Go on...admit it. :)

I'm obsessed with mirrors too, especially big ones like these!

That's a mighty fine speciman and I totally understand your obsession. I think mirrors make a room. Personally I have to stop myself adding too many!

"Life is like a mirror, we get the best results when we smile at it.” Would love to smile in that big mirror

I love mirrors as well -- can't get enough of them and we work with them daily. LOVE the traditional giant mirrors leaning against a wall, so sublime. Great post!
