Stuck(y) On You

Picture 119Picture 120 For the past few days I've been thrillseeking. No, not of the "jump out of a perfectly good plane with a questionably packed parachute" kind. Hardly. Instead I've been in search of pretty things and bright spots of design creativity. It starts with the usual suspects... Williams-Sonoma Home and the like and extends to tiny boutiques, fabric specialists and galleries.

Your precious feet can only take you so far in 97 degree heat, however, so a good search online is often the most efficient (and coolest) way to travel. This morning, rather than pack up and head to the nearest interior design boutique, I popped over to the reliable Robb & Stucky site for inspiration. In the process I couldn't help but feel I was betraying my inner explorer. She wants to go places and surround herself with plush surroundings and a full-frontal creative experience. Heat or no heat.

I'm curious, fellow creatives, where do you go for inspiration? The beach? A book? Bergdorfs? The park? A gallery? What real world places do you visit when you need a good thump on the head?

What the beautiful people are saying...

Your question made me realize I don't have a place to go for inspiration. I don't do anything for inspiration but wait for it to strike. I need to do something about that!

And I wanted to say I really like the mirror(s?) in the first picture.

oh no, I definitely head over to R & S for inspiration ALL the time. In fact I just got back from Sarasota and insisted that the hubs take me there. We spent two hours walking the store! Every city we go to that has one I make him take me! haha I will be doing a post about it next week. The most inspiring part? Their design studio! 2500 feet of books, flooring, fabric, paint, wallpaper, and meeting areas. Absolutley amazing!

Oh, Amanda - that sounds fabulous!!!!!! I love R & S... I love enveloping myself in their pretty, pretty surroundings!!! Can't wait for your post!

Amy: you need a place! While I adore blogs, shopping sites and online design mags - NOTHING alters my state of mind and viewpoint more than going somewhere and seeing things that amaze me.

It doesn't have to be a high-end boutique. Stumble into a tiny Asian food market and prepare to be amazed. Walk through the garden section at your nearest big box store to take in the flowers and planters. Visit the zoo. Pull over the next time you see a pretty view and admire the scene.

you MUST surprise your eyes and your mind regularly. I truly feel it's one of the keys to happiness. Step out of your front door today and look for something new. I promise - it's there!!!

C’est cool ! Votre article est cool!

Something to say, gorgeous?
