Picture 12 As much as we love to travel, we've still never ventured to any amazing Asian countries. We wax on about visiting our friends in high fashion Tokyo, toy with the idea of seeing the great wall, discuss the potential thrills of shopping in Shanghai. While all of those sound amazing - and will occur in the future - I never thought Beijing needed to be added ot the list. Based upon the luxury hotels in Beijing I'm finding I might be selling this bustling city short.

Check out this Ritz-Carlton property. It's a study in contrasts. The gleaming tower looks cold and serious. Yet behind that sleek facade is a surprisingly tranquil environment. The rooms are steeped in chic decor and soft textures. Even the public spaces seem to invite relaxation. And if you're looking for touches of cultural appeal, just look at those gorgeous screens and shimmering silk fabrics. It's a designer's dream come true. I imagine I'd spend hours taking in the details of the myriad patterns in the decor.

For those in need of a little pampering, the spa takes up an entire floor of the towering hotel, offering a calm respite from the busy streets below. If the photos are any indication, the Beijing financial district's Ritz-Carlton is easily one of the best. But don't take my word for it. The who's who of style and travel publications have all listed this as a truly luxurious treat. Take a peek for yourself!

I love that you featured this hotel. I actually stayed there when I was in Beijing last year. It is truly incredible. I have traveled to Asia a decent amount, and while I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tokyo-- Beijing does not get enough credit. It's a little gem. There is so much to do, see, eat, buy-- and the best part is that it is much more affordable than Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Shanghai, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend it. (PS-- We got a GREAT rate at this hotel too. After the Olympics, hotel occupancy at all of these fabulous new hotels they built for the Games was only at 20%. Don't be afraid to negotiate!)

been thinking of you for a while and was wondering why you werent updating here, just found out i didnt have the right feed. and just my luck i visit and you talk about travel and the ritz.. if only i could hop over to asia as easily going to europe!
