Mile High Club
Saint Pete Paul just tipped me off to a wildly talented designer. He's not in Milan, or the garment district of any typical fashion metropolis....he's in Aspen. Listen, if these are the sketches that living a mile high inspires, we should all be headed west with our box of sharpened colored pencils.
The designer is Gabriel Conroy, and his actual translation of these illustrations into reality is every bit as marvelous as the artistic expressions themselves. Have a looksie. (Nice work, Paul, on discovering a rising star!)
By the way...Paul has just informed me that I'll be guest blogging for him next week as he jets off to the Bahamas. Do swing by and visit me as I perform my very best Giada de Laurentiis impersonation and indulge you in some of my thoughts on the ideal kitchen.

Wow, I'm really impressed with those designs, so exquisite! They're very reminiscent of wardrobe from the Titantic film only injected with the Millennium. I think I'm in love! I have to say my favorites would be the Midnight charmeuse with buckle trim halter and the Water color jersey and metallic lace gown.
So imaginative!
I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the guest kitchen as well! Since I spend a lot of time in the kitchen myself - I'm always intrigued to see the styles that people are most often drawn to.
I often find that certain people are preoccupied with redesigning kitchens with only the aesthetic appearance in mind and not functionality (mainly because they don't COOK) so it ends up looking like a model house rather than a "lived-in" kitchen. I find it rather impersonal.
Geeze, long comment, guess I should've saved that for when you actually write the post!

That's it exactly... I actually love cooking. I'm obsessed with it right now. So my next kitchen had better be a big performer. You nailed it about most people designing for looks only. It has become a status symbol in most homes. Which I really have no problem with because it makes it lovely and grand for the next person who buys the home. But I want mine to look fabulous and WORK for me, not fight me :)

Love these sketches! I try to incorporate fashion into my notecards (see some at www.remanents.com, but was glad to stumble upon your blog. Keep up the great style...
