Venticinque
It's high time I finally posted my list. Several people have tagged me to post 25 random, curious, personal details about myself. Are you ready? Here are a few off the top of my head...
- I drink an unusually large amount of water. I rarely am seen without my bottle of water. I love it. And I assure you, one of the secrets to good skin is water intake. Thirsty girl = thirsty skin. Not a good look. Besides, it's just so good for your body. What's weird? I like it room temperature or warmer. Not hot. Definitely not cold. Yes, I know. Some people find that odd.
- I wear a size 6.5 shoe.
- For good or bad, I absolutely have to have my surroundings neat & tidy before beginning any work. For me, visual order is mental order. Add neat freak to my list. :)
- Rarely does a day go by that I don't workout. Even if just have time for a walk, I "need" it. Maybe not odd, but the fact that I enjoy working out seems to be peculiar for some people.
- My hairdresser is under instruction not to listen to me if I come in saying I want my hair cut above shoulder length. I've told him to send me home if I do it. Why? About once every 18 months I see an awesome graduated bob and think it'll look awesome on me. It did. Once. But the second time was a failure. The third time was the last. But I find long hair much lower maintenance - and counter intuitive as that sounds.
- Right now I'm guessing this list is pretty boring. :)
- I don't care much for shrimp. Of all the good seafood available, I just find shrimp to be a waste of time. Same goes for oysters & clams. Let's talk sea bass, tilapia, seared ahi tuna, yellowfin.... there are some wonderful things to eat that live in the sea. I'll pass on the shrimp every time. And while seemingly every Top Chef contestant thinks scallops are the Holy Grail of entrees, I can take those or leave them. I do enjoy them if browned properly. But bring me a nice piece of fish any day over an undercooked scallop. I know most of you think I"m really missing out. But I just don't care for it.
- I've got an 11 month old beautiful baby girl. It will be a thrill to introduce her to the wonder of this great world we live in. Such a cool experience being a mom. Not at all what I expected. I was convinced that it would be quite lame being a mom. I was absolutely wrong. It rocks.
- I'm currently trying to rid my closet of 90% of its contents. I'm ready to start fresh. In fact, I'm only partially attached to the remaining 10%. I'm ready for a new look. A fresh start. A new me. And I just don't like having so much stuff.
- I'd like to rebuild it from the ground up with as very well chosen items. I don't want quantity. I want quality.
- And... for some reason ever since I had my daughter I don't like wearing black or other dark colors. Isn't that odd? I can't explain it. But I'm dying to rid myself of all of my dark clothing.
- I have excellent balance. I discovered this in kindergarten on the balance beam. Should have been a Romanian gymnast, right? Hmm... I'm not Romanian. LOL.
- Fit is everything when it comes to clothing for me. I like the feeling of things that fit well. I don't like flowy, loose things usually. Probably due to my height. I like it fitted and fitted "just so."
- I don't wear lipstick. I'm a gloss girl. Lipstick just feels unnatural. I actually love the natural color of my lips and and constantly on the quest for the "perfect shine" in a tube. My "MLBB" shade (my lips but better). So far, LipFusion Bare and Chanel Glossimer Glow are my absolute favorites. But... if you have the perfect "my lips but better" shade I'd love to hear about it.
- Last year I fell in love with a few trusted fashion brands... 7 for all mankind for denim. Rebecca Taylor for feminine tops. Theory pants. BCBG has the best little fitted jackets for my frame. Why is that odd? Maybe it isn't. I'm difficult to fit and it's just so cool to find things that fit well.
- in 2008 I also fell for Chanel Ombre eye shadows & Bliss Labs skincare (although I'm becoming a Dr. Brandt girl of late).
- You know this already, but I love to travel. There's something exciting about settling onto your seat on an airplane. That flutter in your stomach. The thrill of the adventure ahead. That feeling is impossible to match with anything else. I don't get to do it nearly as often as I'd like.
- I adore shopping online. Having things delivered to your doorstep at no extra charge is such a wonderful luxury we have. I marvel at the wonder of it all. It's convenient. Saves me time and money. The efficiency is something I cherish.
- My husband is exactly one foot taller than me. Yes... a foot!
- Breakfast is a really big deal for me. I love breakfast. Love it. Take away my opportunity for an egg white veggie omelet, pico de gallo and perfectly toasted bread? You'd better have a darn good reason. :)
- Unless I'm really, really tired I limit myself to one caffeinated drink a day. Any more and I am like Kelly Ripa on overdrive. Too much Energizer bunny in the blood.
- My husband are recently loving Bollywood movies. They are rich with color, gorgeous scenery, gorgeous people (jaw-droppingly good looking), fantastic music - and some truly wonderful stories. So far the best one was Guru. Bring on the NetFlix!
- I do indeed always order a Venti cup when I go to Starbucks.
- I'm on the hunt for an even bigger pair of sunglasses this year. Big. Dark. Fabulous frames. I'd love to see what your latest favorite shades are. My current pair seemed ostentaciously large a few years ago. Now I want them even bigger.
- Blogging still amazes me. I love it. I love the people. The connections. The sharing. I LOVE you guys. And... you should all be on Twitter. I think you'd love it.
I had no idea a list this long would feel so unusual to write. I'd love to see your lists as well. What a great way to peek behind the curtains on someone's life!

fun list, franki! :)

Good to know more about you.
I guess now I'll have to watch Guru.
Kisses to the beautiful baby. :)

I have a very similar one to number 5. Never hair bangs. Even if I ask for.

I'm all about 21, 23, and 25! :) I love twitter, it's my newest addiction!

I really enjoyed learning more about you, Franki! Great list!

Ah, at last! Great list Franki. I always need to start with an uncluttered workspace too but I always leave things a mess which requires tidying at the beginning of each day. One day I'll get it together to do the tidying at the end of the day. Sigh...

Jeez, it's like I wrote this list down to the 11 month old baby, food/shopping preferences and...... even the foot taller husband (6'2 to my measly 5'2)!
It's fun to read that I'm not alone.

So with you on rebuilding a wardrobe based on quality vs. quantity. And as the mother of an about-to-be-1-yr.old daughter, I think it makes getting dressed so much easier!

Love reading all of this about you, dear!!!
BTW, I had to insist on the same thing with my own hairdresser... no more chop-offs!

Hi Franki,
I've been reading your blog for several months now. I love it. I enjoy your posts, and your creativity and talent for writing make it especially enjoyable. Thanks for sharing some personal tidbits with us. These memes are always a great way to learn about your favorite bloggers.
By the way, I can totally identify with #9. I've been whittling my closet down over the past month. I really need a change.
PS>>Gotta say, I love those Jimmy Choo's, too.

Not boring at all.
The shoes drew me in anyway.
And I'm with you on the Glossimers. I'm a sucker for any Chanel cosmetics, though. I feel like such a lady pulling out a Chanel compact in the powder room.
Good taste, girl!

Good to know I'm not alone on so many of these :)
Glossimers are fab-u-lous, Rebecca!
Carrie, it's so cathartic to prune the closet, isn't it?
Jessie, I wish I'd started that rule years earlier. LOL. (Fortunately, hair grows quickly)
Audra, sounds like we are living parallel lives! :D
Angel, that's amazing! We have so much in common - always. I love that.
Patronila, I notice that, too. By the end of the day I've created a small bit of chaos. Even us neat freaks make messes :)
Paloma, you are always so gracious. Glad you enjoyed! XOX

I loved this post. I think I want to adopt your habit of not wearing dark colors - my closet is filled with black and gray.
And my boyfriend is exactly one foot taller than me!

Fab shoes!
I am jealous of your tiny feet!

Do you smoke? I also had real trouble with seafood when I smoked. The minute I gave up I noticed the difference in flavour and texture. The subtleties amazed me. If not then its just me then....

I love #25! :)
I like your list, I gotta say I also like room temperature water too but on a hot day, I like cold water!

Ha, I've never watched a Bollywood movie but have had it on my list of things to do... Guru seems like a good place to start :).

Totally addicted to Bollywood (it's all the color and dancing), want dibs on your handbags as you clean out the closet and my MLBB is Nars Stella.

Franki, I feel like we've been friends for years...most of this I know:) I have a couple of suggestions for Bollywood movies. Be sure to check out Monsoon Wedding, well maybe not typical Bollywood but it's a great movie. I almost know the dialogue by heart. Also I loved the Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice; Bride and Prejudice, starring the uber gorgeous Aishwarya Rai. I should have stock in Netflix by now, lol.

Hysterical. If you were serious about wanting to get rid of your clothes though, I am here waiting! ;)

Gorgeous, gorgeous yellow heels!!! If by any chance you have size 8-8.5 shoes from your #9, I will happily take off your hands (yes I know you wear a 6.5) ;)

I keep a pen and (really cute) notepad nearby for blogs like this one. On list:
Glossimer Glow
Bollywood movie "Guru" plus movies mentioned in posts by your readers.
BCBG jacket - I'll look for a good fit there, although I tower over you at 5'2 3/4".
Thanks for sharing with us.
