Dipping Your Toe Into the Market Again
As women, we don't tend to talk about whether or not we play the market. We talk about shoes, gloss, shopping... lunch. But like real estate, right now it's a buyer's market if you've got the stomach spare change for it. And while most of you understand blue chips, IRAs, 401Ks and mutual funds... it's unlikely you're channeling your inner Peter Lynch. At the end of the day, I think many women (and men) are intimidated by the market.
So how do you make Wall Street approachable? By putting it in a framework you understand and taking away the risk. Think about it. Why is it you can tell every detail of the spring YSL footwear lineup, down to the tiniest detail, but you can't tell me Apple's handle on the stock exchange (it's AAPL)? It's because you don't know how to make it approachable. It seems like an amorphous (and potentially dangerous) monster. But, what if you could study it like you study the spreads in Vogue and study it without losing your shorts?
Well... you can. Take a look at WeSeed.com. It groups together fashion stocks, green stocks and even stocks for companies focused on the pet industry.
Organizing it like this is very clever. I don't know about you, but I know what brands I like in fashion. I know what brands seem trustworthy and profitable. And what's wrong with investing in topics you understand? Nothing. In fact, you'd be unwise to invest in topics and stocks that are outside of your understanding.
But you can choose a fashion portfolio on your own. So what makes the site really different? Fake money. That's right. Fake money. You can dip your toe into the market virtually - using WeSeed cash - and build your confidence. As you gain understanding (and virtual cash) you'll eventually learn the ropes. That's right. Try it before you buy it, baby. And what girl doesn't like window shopping?

You're brilliant! We are going to check it out!

I love the experimental aspect of it. True, you can also do this on some of the major trading sites, but this puts in in a fun context in my opinion. Happy trading! :)
