Winners Make Their Own Luck
If you've read long enough, you know that I study self-made successes. The only way to master anything is to learn more about it. And I genuinely believe that if you study successful people, that you too can be (and will be) successful. Study shoes, and you'll have a closet full of them. Study how money is made, and you will find yourself with a healthy bank account (and more shoes! How 'bout them apples?).
Say what you will about him, but Sir Richard Branson is an absolute inspiration for me. He thinks it. He dreams it. He does it. He succeeds at it. That is the Branson way. If you need a kick in the pants this year to get motivated, pick up his first book. I pretty much read it in one night, I was so enthralled by his adventurous tale.
So why am I telling you this again? Because I'm going to run a brief series of posts on entrepreneurs I've met online. These are people who demanded more out of life, reached out to achieve it on their own, and know a thing or two about making it happen on their terms. These are the people I gravitate towards. And I'd like you to learn more about what makes them tick.
Keep your eyes peeled, people. It's coming! In the meantime, don't take no for an answer!

I am excited for your entrepreneur posts!!!! In the meantime, I'm going to wish myself some money, a balenciaga bag, good health for my grandma...oh and while I'm wishing, is there anything I can wish for you? =)

Hey Franki, can honestly say the Branson is my inspiration, that sounds a bit naff, more like a person I would most like to copy... Anyway I love the fact that he just did it. He's not well educated he's just a doer...self made and all that. I think that's the greatest human achivement, aside from creating offspring, that given a set of normal or poor circumstances we can still achieve so much.

I read his book "Screw it, Let's Do It" maybe a couple of years ago - inspiring stuff.
Don't know if it's the same but with a different title, here is the Amazon link

This is so wonderful to read your post.
I am tired of people who continue to tell me that....
*I want too much,
*I should just settle for what I have,
*I'm just a working fool and I need to accept it.
I don't tell them that they want too little, that they settled for a crap life and spouse. That would be rude. They say money doesn't buy happiness. I say, poverty doesn't buy happiness either. I always see the glass as half full, but I don't just want to exist, I want to thrive. I have difficulty putting it into reality though, money and time are issues, so I look forward to reading about those who soar and inspire.

I think he is so interesting - like him or not. He's so cool its almost like a living spoof of a spoof from SNL.

While I know Wal-Mart is controversial, I LOVED Sam Walton's autobiography. It was hilarious (i.e. the description of him driving a station wagon full of ladies underwear around Tennessee after finding a close out). I highly recommend it!

Franki,
I can't wait to read your inspirational interviews. I totally believe that you find your own luck by being curious and open to new people, places and ideas. The more we learn, listen and talk ( blog ) about the things we love and desire the better our chances are of creating lives in which to enjoy them!

Branson is one of the few successful adults who keeps that youthful exuberance and a carefree attitude. Easy to do the latter with lots of cash, but no doubt he'd be that way regardless
