Now, About those Columns...
It's a bit severe for my taste, but look at the decadence of this media room in the New York apartment of Yabu Pushelberg principals George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. That's right... wall to wall modular sofas. What could have been an oddly long room was turned into a playful space - designed specifically for lounging about and watching movies. But wait...there's more.
Lest you fear they are living in squalor with no room to breathe, take a view of their expansive living room. Complete with a rare Roberto Sebastian Matta shell chair amidst a few choice bespoke furnishings. Clearly, they take fine living seriously.
But the best features are yet to come...
Again, as a woman the space is too spartan for my taste, but this incredible bathroom has the potential for spa-worthy greatness. I love how they've used the concrete columns as architectural details. Playing them up and polishing them rather than concealing them. It adds to the airiness of the entire apartment, and adds a bit of edge to the space. In some spaces - like here in the living room - those columns are almost like towering sculptures. They've made no attempt to apologize for their obtrusive placement.
But I think you'll like the final bit I have to show you... the closet.
I think now you'll see why I'm really showing you this space. Although those custom shoe cubbies would need to be refitted to accommodate my towering heels... the thinking behind this closet is fantastic. Let in some light (abundant lighting would be needed to celebrate this space), add a dressing table at the center of the room (plush with accessory drawers) and some plush seating (not to mention a fluffy rug) and I can easily see myself forgetting about those imposing concrete columns that block my fantastic view of the city.
Yes, Id' say these two New Yorkers have just the type of pied-à-terre I could work with. Concrete columns and all. Get the full story here...

I am coveting those closets!

I am in absolute awe of their work - they are pure genius. We have a new girl starting in the firm I work for who was previously working for them. Am I a little intimidated...absolutely!

I am loving the media room. I think that I would never make it through an entire movie in that much comfort.

Great media room! I love super large seating couches...you know, the one's you get lost in. Dead on about the bathroom, nothing would ever fit on top of the counter, but the closet is refreshing...I always hate seeing all the clutter in mine. Of course, a shoe show case is always welcome!
