Float On
"Milled from one block of metal to increase stability, the Floater also has drilled channels for cable management, and silicon pads inside to grip the body of the Mac safely. There's a cheeky little dig at Apple in the product blurb: Balmuda, the manufacturer, claims that they make the stand to a tolerance of one tenth of a millimeter (0.004 inch), while at the same time saying that "since every MacBook Pro is unique, we have left 2mm room for adjustment where the panels join". Snap!"
Normally your desk area isn't rocking much mojo. Am I right? But if you're sporting an Apple laptop on that desk, I'm about to show you a new device that will (quite literally) turn your de rigeur office setup its head. Enter, the Floater, as described by Gadget Lab:
For those not living in the Applesphere, you have been saved the discomfort of the searing hot laptop that threatens to melt your fingertips. Surfaces hot enough to fry an egg. The Floater is designed to hold your MacBook vertically, to allow the extra airflow and aluminum construction to cool the computer (keeping it 3º-6ºC cooler). Used in conjunction with an external monitor and keyboard, it saves valuable desktop real estate and adds a touch of mod style to your otherwise staid office.
It does, however have one glaring flaw: a $305 USD price tag. Touche.
